Skool work...

Here are the two projects for my intro to computer graphics that made it up onto the wall at school:

There was a certain number of objectives that I had to achieve for each of these.  The above was done entirely in illustrator.  I concentrated on using only a triadic color scheme due to the simplicity of the bird's coloring.

This project was done in photoshop.  I had to have at least ten images for this project, which for me felt a little too much and I would have had it a little more stripped down at points.  For the poster I ignored the triadic color scheme dropping the yellow for something a little more bold.

Mermaid Meat

I had a show a little while back, I think right before I started classes.
Again there were pretty girls, as I tend the female form over the male, but the main focus was Japanese goblins, or Yokai.  A secondary focus was kimonos and textile and the patterns they can create.  I mixed in some pop references for a little spice.
These scans are taken from prints and an advertisement card (not of my design, but Ximena of Skeleton Key Tattoo):

( Flyer for show)
 Ohaguro-bettari
 for Kuniyoshi
 Umi-Bozu for Hokusai

 Rokuro-kubi
 Mermaid Meat
Kitsuni

skool...

Here is a sketch for my intro to computer graphics class.  We have to choose an extinct or effectively extinct animal from 1700 onwards and make an emblem, a poster, and a booklet full of info and facts.  Poor Great Auk, it's too bad you were so fluffy :(

There are some rough bits in the lettering, but I hope I covered enough of everything for the assignment.

Ugh...

So I forgot to transfer the scan I made at work of my newest piece, which is commissioned, onto my thumb drive so you will have to wait until Monday to see it.  Unfortunately the scanner I was using could only go up to 11x17 and the piece itself is 14x14, so maybe not until Tuesday when I can drag it to school.

So until then here are some Umi-Bozu plushies I made for my last show.  They included tags with the original inspiring art, pronunciation guide, and a description of their habits.  Made from fleece, synthetic filler, button eyes, and hand sewn, I really like working in this medium and will probably produce more like it:
